About LightStream
LightStream is a movie and television catalogue with a built-in web player, published in English and Russian at lightstream.ws. It exists to answer one question quickly: what is worth watching right now, and where does it start.
What LightStream does
LightStream brings together the things a viewer normally has to assemble by hand. The home page carries editorial rails - what is on air, what is in theaters, anime, and Russian-language titles - alongside a "what to watch" panel that can be pointed at a single streaming network such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, Peacock or Paramount+.
Every title has a detail page with a synopsis, genres, rating, runtime, the billed cast and the key crew, and every credited person has a page listing the titles they worked on. Search covers the same catalogue in both languages. A viewer who signs in gets bookmarks and watch progress that follow them between devices; a viewer who does not sign in keeps the same data locally in their browser.
Two languages, one catalogue
Every page is served under a language prefix - /en for English and /ru for Russian - and a request without a prefix is redirected to the language the visitor asked for. Titles, synopses and genre labels are localised, and each page declares its alternates with hreflang so search engines and agents can pick the right one.
Where the data comes from
Catalogue metadata and artwork come from The Movie Database (TMDB). LightStream is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Ratings shown on a title are the TMDB community vote average; they are not LightStream ratings and are not editorial scores.
Who runs LightStream
LightStream is built and operated by a small independent team. There is no advertising network on the site and no third-party trackers; usage statistics are collected with a self-hosted analytics instance.
